This was a great quiet place for our group. The views were wonderful, nice outdoor seating area for all. The house was clean and was a great size. Beds were comfortable. Plenty of supplies and linens. Listing does state 3.5 bath but really is a 3 bath, we did not find four toilets, but was not a deal breaker.

This was our second time staying at Good Bear. The first was my last trip to Baker with my Dad and family in 2017. This time it was to celebrate his life with family from Alaska, Oregon, Idaho and Washington. The property is magical. We saw turkey, deer, owl, and lots of other critters. The cows sauntered right up to the fence while grazing. There was a small hiccup during our stay with a water leak that needed repair. We were without water for a couple of hours while the problem was diagnosed and a part picked up and replaced. It was a minor set back during meal prep but was handled quickly and efficiently.

Our group of 11 ladies ages 69-88 had a great stay at GBR. The location is close to the ski hill and Baker City. The discounted ski tickets were a plus. Accommodations were perfect however the Family Room still has a lumpy mattress but we managed. Lots of options with air mattresses or cots.

Our family gathered at Good Bear for a long, overdue reunion. The home and surrounding area was beautiful and provided for plenty of space along with a very well appointed kitchen. Access to Anthony Lakes and the discount tickets for skiing along with access to nearby trails made for a great outings. We also enjoyed watching the large herd of elk make their daily trek to grazing grounds below. We all loved this place and left with many nice memories and promises to return. Thank you for making such a great place available.

Winter Wonderland. We had 3 inches on new snow around the ranch. Each day club members were able to get up to Anthony lakes to ski. We even took a short trek on snowshoes around the property. The kitchen was so accommodating for our dinner prep and we loved all sitting at the large family dining table.

Good Bear is terrific. We recently had a small get together with a few family members we had not seen in 14 years. The accommodations at BG were perfect for our small group. We had plenty of room for privacy as well as visiting in lovely, comfortable surroundings. The weather provided serious heat, some smoke, then rain, so we did not take much advantage of the outdoor seating accommodations.

This is an amazing place to stay. We were here for a family trip and it exceeded our expectations. The house is very nice with extremely good views. I would definitely recommend this place. The air mattresses for outside sleeping were a big hit.

We were so pleased to have access to this fantastic location. Nestled between the start of the trees above the house and the pasture land below the house, this house commands incredible views of the valley. We were also so please that our whole family was easy to accommodate in this spacious house. My mom and dad celebrated their 60th while we were there. And my mom was so impressed with the house that she said we should come back every year for a reunion. In short, it was a beautiful place to gather. Thanks for sharing this little slice of heaven. Wonderful weekend of family connectedness! This property was absolutely perfect for our small family reunion. The setting is idyllic, the log home is gorgeous, and the kitchen was well stocked. This house was amazing!!! It was a wonderful set up and beautiful scenery from mountains to wildlife. The house had something for everyone from kids to dogs there was never a dull moment. This home is beautiful inside and out with lots of creative attentions to detail. It hosted 4 families and provided ample space for kids and adults to hang out. We enjoyed the pool table, foosball, fires in the fireplace, movie watching, and lots of games. The kitchen was stocked with pots, pans, and equipment to cook for a crowd. During the days we enjoyed skiing at Anthony Lakes resort. Fun time had by all!

Beautiful views and weather greeted us at Good Bear Ranch. Our large group enjoyed preparing evening meals in the spacious kitchen and gathering around the large table in the dining room. Good Bear fully met our expectations and made for a great stay!

Fantastic stay! The lodge was great and the views from the deck fantastic...we loved it. The only issue we had was the representation of bedrooms and baths. The corner 3 bedrooms ran together which created a small issue for two families and the baths were misrepresented, in actuality, there are only 6 bedrooms and three baths. Other than that, it was a fantastic stay and we will probably rebook in the future. Thank you. em

Beautiful Home and Property. Homeowner was very responsive. Artwork in the home is beautiful. Enjoyed hiking on the property each day, playing pool, ping pong and foosball. Kitchen was well stocked with any item needed. It was nice to have the wood readily available for the fireplaces. Great memories created during our stay. The pictures don’t do this home justice - it is amazingly beautiful!! It is spacious and incredibly well appointed with everything needed for a wonderful stay. There are multiple spaces for group interactions including a large beautiful kitchen. The surrounding area is fabulous!

I gave 5 stars for everything and wished i could give 6. We saw a huge herd of elk with many babies, wild turkeys, butterflies and birds. The house stayed cool during hot weather. The views are spectacular. Plenty of room inside and out for our extended family. It's clean and well maintained. I liked the pictures of the family on the shelves and the owner's paintings. I could sense they come here and enjoy the place too, maybe even often. Kitchen had everything we needed and drawers and cupboards were well marked so things were easy to find. Communication was quick, friendly, clear and helpful. Definitely a wonderful beautiful haven.

Good Bear Ranch is absolutely beautiful. We stayed during a massive snow storm. The caretaker checked in on us and made sure the driveway was plowed regularly, which made it easy to get up to Anthony Lakes and down to town fro groceries. The kitchen is fully stocked, and the views are STUNNING. It's a great place to get away and relax.

This house was a dream for us. Beautiful scenery, super comfortable rooms and space, great kitchen fully stocked with any equipment we needed, tons of games and toys for kids - and movies and a fun basement space that my kids just loved and wonderful location. We used both the property and nearby Anthony Lakes, and we had an awesome S'mores session at the outdoor fire pit in the snow, which was really fun. I would definitely recommend a stay here!

Such a wonderful stay! We loved our stay at Good Bear! The outdoor space was just perfect for the mornings and for taking in the cool air that comes down from the mountains in the evenings. Space to spread out and relax or play. Highly recommended!

Peaceful family retreat. We stayed here for a family reunion with a large three generation group ranging in age from 10 to 79. It’s a great space for a big group. Robin and Katie were responsive and helpful with our planning and arrival. The house was lovely, beautiful construction, and well equipped with plenty of dishes, cookware, towels, and linens. The kitchen was perfect for cooking and eating together and the house overall was spacious with lots of different places to hang out, chat, and relax. And the view is spectacular! The outdoor seating and wrap around deck were our favorite spots, and the kids and dogs loved being able to run around the partially fenced yard. The pool table was a hit with the teens—no one turned on the TV or Xbox the entire weekend. The house is about 20 minutes from Baker City and 40 minutes from Anthony Lakes. We had a wonderful time.

Almost a Novel
I feel like I could write a novel about our experience at Good Bear Ranch House. I'll try to break it down as a concise as possible.
The House
The accommodations are nothing short of spectacular. We were a little worried about amenities in the area so we purchase groceries and expected to cook. When we arrived we were pleased to find an extraordinarily well equipped kitchen with ample room to prepare, cook, serve and enjoy. Everything was labeled cleverly with popsicle sticks that complimented the decor. We wished we were able to make use of all the entertaining space with the 3 larger common areas, but found ourselves outside most of our trip. The bedrooms were very comfortable and the loft area was very neat. The bathrooms were great and given the weather, the entry room was perfect for taking our snowy boots off and staging our equipment.
The Property
I'm from Tennessee and live in Los Angeles. I had no idea really what to expect from the area. The cabin is snuggled away at the foot of the mountain and a perfect location to "get away from it all". The hiking trail was gorgeous. I believe we couldn't of planned our trip at a better time. The temperature was the high 20's to 30's and the snow fall was stellar. We had a doe and her 2 fawns visit the yard just about every morning. The mountain looked spectacular with the snow covered ground and frosted trees.
The Community
I guess if you stay in a bad neighborhood it could ruin your trip but generally, you don't think too much about a neighborhood when booking a remote location. We went into town to eat for a couple nights and to catch the Christmas parade. Everyone in the town was so friendly. Such a pleasant experience. We had to next day air a part for a project we are working on and the UPS guy put chains on his truck and still delivered the package... We were floored! We were half expecting to have to go pick it up from the terminal. Everyone was so nice and helpful.
The only thing I would think to tell anyone coming out is be cognizant of the time of the year and plan accordingly with clothes and vehicles. I drove my 4WD truck up from Los Angeles and definitely needed the 4WD with the roads frozen over. That may sound like common sense to some, but I had to remind others in my group who were renting cars.
We had an extremely great time. I can't thank you enough for letting us stay in your home. Thank you.
